Bloggers’ Quilt Festival and QAYG Throw Quilt

I have decided to enter two quilts in this years festival.  You can see the other one here.

My oh my….have you seen all of the lovely quilts that have been entered in the Fall 2013 Blogger’s Quilt Festival?

Hop over there and look at all the beautiful quilts!

I have decided to enter this quilt that I made for my oldest daughter.  Construction began when I purchased a new Pfaff Smarter machine and wanted to be able to get to know the machine while doing some relatively simple stitching.  At that time I also wanted to give the ‘quilt as you go’ method a shot.  What a great way to learn both a new machine and a new method of quilting.

I randomly pulled strips from my stash and began making blocks.  It was a seriously fun project, and I was able to finish it in time for my daughter’s birthday.  It is a well loved quilt that lives in her family room.  Perfect for cuddling with my grandsons.

I hope you enjoy the Festival!  It’s a good one, that’s for sure!

This is a beautiful quilt. I love your color choices, and the spontaneous look..

This is so neat!! I love it *so much* when somebody takes colors that aren’t my normal choices, a style I don’t pick for myself, and then makes something that hollers out to me “I’m so cool! Don’t you really want to make one, too?!” This is a wonderful quilt, from the improve piecing to the fabrics to the quilt-as-you-go construction. Love it. 😀

I love you use of mixed fabrics. I can certainly understand why your daughter and grandchildren loves it :)

WOW, I took a look around your blog this morning and I love this quilt and many of your other projects. I haven’t done any straight line quilting yet, but it is in my future. I was saddened by your not getting a BabyLock sewing machine. They are headquarted here where I live and I think they have a great product and their customer service is wonderful. I am a Bernina gal (since it was my first “big” machine, but also have a love of the old Featherweights and recent BabyLock products. How do you like your Pfaff now that you have gotten to know it?
